Entry Requirements
1.Requirements on Citizenship
1.1 Non-Chinese citizens with an ordinary foreign passport.
1.2 Requirements of the regulations set in the Document No. 12 (2020) of Ministry of Education of the PRC should be met.
1.2.1 Applicants who have given up their original Chinese citizenship (including residents in Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan)and become foreign citizens, must acquire foreign citizenship before April 30, 2022, and must have lived abroad for more than 2 years from April 30, 2022 to April 30, 2026 (more than 9 months of residence abroad per year can be considered as one year, taking entry and exit stamps as evidence).
1.2.2 If the applicant has acquired foreign citizenship automatically at the time of birth in a foreign country, whose parents were both Chinese citizens, or one of the parents was a Chinese citizen, parent’s (with Chinese citizenship) permanent resident in foreign country should be obtained prior to the birth of the applicant. Applicants must have lived abroad for more than 2 years from April 30, 2022 to April 30, 2026 (more than 9 months of residence abroad per year can be considered as one year, taking entry and exit stamps as evidence).
Note: If the applicant is concluded to have Chinese citizenship by the exit-entry administrations of the Chinese public security organs after application, admission or enrollment, their application eligibility, admission offer, enrollment qualification, or student status shall be revoked.
2. General Requirements
2.1 Under the age of 25. Applicants must have graduated from high school (Those who provide pre-graduation certificate or student status certificate at application MUST provide senior high school diploma no later than registration).
2.2 With proper moral conduct, in good health with no infectious disease or any physical or mental diseases that may affect study.
3. Language Proficiency Requirements
IELTS: 6.0 overall or above (academic module) with a minimum of 5.0 in each component. TOEFL-iBT:75 or above with a minimum of 15 in Reading, Listening, Speaking and Writing. Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE): 170
or above Duolingo: 100 or above Submission of IB, A-level or other international standardized test score reports can exempt the applicant
from providing English proficiency certificate .
4. Requirements on China Scholastic Competency Assessment (CSCA)
According to the requirements of the higher authorities, starting from the 2026/2027 academic year, all international students applying for undergraduate programs are required to provide valid CSCA report. The China Scholarship Council will organize the first test on December 21, 2025, with registration opening in November. Specific times and arrangements will be released through the official website. Starting from 2026, the test service will be provided regularly, with five tests per year in January, March, April, June, and December.

Program Description
1. Program Introduction
Editor Notes: The syllabus of MBBS program is set according to the MOE regulation and IIME requirements.
- The main courses in preclinical medicine stage include Biochemistry, Anthroponomy, Embryology, Physiology, Pathogen Biology, Pathology, Pharmacology, pathophysiology and Diagnostics etc.
- Students need to take Chinese Language and Chinese Culture courses to pass HSK (the Chinese Proficiency Test) grade 4 which is a requirement for the internship in China.
- The graduates of MBBS program are eligible to take the Medical Licensing Examinations held by the medical councils in different countries such as MCI, PMDC, USMLE, HPCSA, SCHS etc.

Editor Notes: Students are expected to live in the International Students Dormitory, where twin rooms are available.
- Almost every room is equipped with telephone, internet access, private bathroom with shower and air-conditioners.
- Public kitchens and washing machines are also accessible to students in the dormitory.
- The University has on all its campuses several convenient and inexpensive restaurants where a good variety of Chinese and Western foods are served.
4. Degree Awarded
Editor Notes: International medical undergraduates will be granted a graduation certificate and conferred a medical degree by the ZHU.
MBBS Degree:
- The English copy of the degree will state MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery).
- After obtaining MBBS Degree, the graduates can apply to take the medical licensing examination in the medical council in order to get registered and practice medicine.
- According to the regulations in different countries, the students may need to do the degree accreditation first.
- A MBBS degree holder can find jobs in government as well as private hospitals, nursing homes and other health facilities.
- Except this, one can also start his own clinic or pursue study for master’s degree.
5. Internship
Editor Notes: The internship is arranged in the final year and students can do the internship/training in China or their home country.
- Students who want to do internship in China need to pass the HSK 4 to contact with the patients and the tuition fee for this year is as normal RMB 42,800 per year.
- The internship will be carried out in the 6 Grade III Class A affiliated hospitals of Zhejiang University.
- These hospitals have a total capacity of over 7700 beds, 8780,000 emergency visits and 238,000 inpatients.
- There are no requirements for students who want to do the internship in their home countries on HSK level and no need to pay for the tuition fee.
- Students have to take the final examination on Theory Test and Clinical Evaluation in ZJU before graduation.
