Choosing Reasons

Reasons from Reasons from A******************
My decision to apply to Zhejiang University is deeply connected to my personal and professional journey. While studying Chinese law during my year abroad at the University of Hong Kong, I realised that true proficiency in Mandarin is essential for building a successful legal career in the region. This professional insight was later complemented by a personal ener in Dublin, I met a fellow applicant to Zhejiang University. We bonded over our shared passion for reconnecting with our roots through language, and our conversation prompted me to research the university in depth. Upon discovering your Chinese Language and Culture Programme, with its focus on not just Chinese language but cultural enrichment through the elective course options, it became clear that this was the perfect opportunity.
This sense of a perfect fit is further exemplified by the chance to be closer to my extended family, including my gparents and brother in Hong Kong, and my aunts and uncles in Beijing. Being near this support network will greatly enhance my experience.
Beyond the exceptional course and family connections, Zhejiang Universitys status as a top-ranked university in a culturally rich city like Hangzhou offers an ideal environment for immersion. The universitys well-established support for international students also gives me confidence that I can settle in comfortably and focus fully on my studies.
I am certain that Zhejiang University is the ideal place to achieve my goals. I am eager to not only embrace Chinese culture but also to contribute my unique perspective my legal background and actively engage with the campus community.

After studying Chinese for 5 years at University and 1 semester in Beijing, I am looking for an immersive experience in China in order to concretize my learning. Studying in Zhejiang University was a logic choice for me, and this for many reasons. The reputation of the University needs no further proving, as it is one of the longest established and most prestigious Chinese University. It would be a great opportunity for me to be able to learn and develop my skills here. Furthermore, I see 杭州 and 浙江 in general as one of the most attractive place in China to live and learn about Chinese culture.
