Entry Requirements
1. General requirements
Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens with proper moral conduct, in good health with no infectious disease or any physical or mental diseases that may affect the normal study, have a bachelor’s degree (Applicant who has not got the degree certificate when applying shall provide the pre-graduation certificate first, then provide the academic degree certificates no later than registration) and be under the age of 35 (Age limit is flexible for healthy applicants with certain work experience and high academic ability).
2. Requirements on nationality
2.1 Applicant who has given up their original Chinese citizenship and become foreign citizens shall provide the documents certifying the cancellation of Chinese nationality, according to the policy of Ministry of Education of the PRC.
2.2 If the applicant has acquired foreign citizenship automatically at the time of birth in a foreign country, whose parents were both Chinese citizens, or one of the parents was a Chinese citizen,parent’s (with Chinese citizenship) permanent resident in foreign country should be obtained prior to the birth of the applicant.
3. Language proficiency requirements:
For Programs taught in Chinese International applicants who apply for Chinese-taught graduate programs must provide certificates to prove their Chinese language proficiency meets the minimum requirements for admission, which are listed as below:
a) Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK): Applicants for Chinese-taught programs shall have HSK certificate of level 5 (180 points) or above. The certificate should be within its validity period.
b) Certificate of Instruction in Chinese: Applicants who have earned a degree from accredited college or university whose language of instruction was Chinese, must provide Certificate of Instruction in Chinese issued by previous institution. Applicants who provide this document are exempt from providing HSK Certificate.
c) Certificate of Instruction in Chinese in Secondary Education: Applicants who have completed secondary education in middle and senior high schools whose language of instruction was Chinese, must provide Certificate of Instruction in Chinese issued by schools. Applicants who provide these documents are exempt from providing HSK Certificate.

*8. Academic transcripts during Bachelor’s degree study
Academic transcripts during Bachelor’s degree study, which must be original documents or notarized copies. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized translations in Chinese or English.
*9. Highest degree certificates
Highest degree certificates, which must be original documents or notarized copies. If applicants are university students, they shall provide an official pre-graduation certificate showing their student status and stating expected graduation date.
*10. Two letters of recommendation from full professors or associate professors
Two letters of recommendation from full professors or associate professors, in Chinese or English. (Professors’ signature, contact phone number and email address must be put on the letter.)
*11. Personal statement
Personal statement, in Chinese or English, should include study and work experience, reasons for application and study proposal. No less than 1500 words.
12. 2023 version of Form for Provisional Acceptance of International Student by ZJU Supervisor. (If any)
Applicants shall provide the above form for professors to fill. Old versions will not be accepted.
